Seniors & Technology: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

JI at Flight SimulatorDid you know that seniors are among the fastest growing groups of technology users in the country? Access to computers, the internet, smart phones, enhanced audio/TV, social media, etc., has brought an improved quality of life to millions of Americans aged 60+.

And yet, the senior population also often faces roadblocks and risks when trying to use technology. Costa Rodis and Felicia Halpert from the award-winning tech services provider Bergen IT LLC will be holding a lively presentation and discussion at Lee Memorial Library in Allendale, NJ — Thursday, May 4th at 1pm.

The presentation is entitled: “Seniors & Technology: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”

Seniors and Technology: Benefits and Risks

There are lots of advantages available to those seniors who use computers. And mobile devices such as tablets or smart phones can bring great benefits. For seniors who are comfortable, technology can aid with everything from shopping, to health checks, to communication with loved ones who are far away.

But for those seniors who have no training, technology can sometimes be daunting, even overwhelming. Seniors often find themselves confused or frustrated by their equipment. And certainly there are risks to seniors when their computers and personal information become infected by viruses, or are accessed by hackers. Identity theft is a key concern for people aged 60+.

Bring your technology questions to “Seniors & Technology: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” and be part of this engaging afternoon discussion.
